Windows sign-in

Sign-in log

A registered PC appears in the app’s Machines tab, and its sign-ins in the Activity tab, alongside your Ubuntu machines and anything else on the app.

Machines

The Machines tab lists the PC by the name it registered with, OS windows/amd64, when it registered, was last seen and last signed someone in. Rename and Revoke are there too.

Activity

Open the app → Activity. Pushes appear as they happen. Sign-ins the PC decided by itself, such as offline codes, are queued on the PC and sent the next time it reaches U2 Secured; those rows say “Reported later · received” and the time they arrived. Filter by Machine to see one PC.

Names outside the login rule

The sign-in log expects Unix-style login names. A Windows account whose name does not fit, one with a space such as “front desk” for example, is logged with the login _invalid_login and the real name as the user identifier, so the row still names the person. Signing in is not affected.

What it does not show

  • People outside “U2 Secured Users”: U2 Secured is not involved. Their sign-ins are Event 1002 in the PC’s Event Log.
  • Group members refused for a blank password: Event 1001 only.
  • Anything a PC that was never registered decided by itself.
